Three Years Melanoma Free

I’m excited to share that I just received the news that I am three years free from melanoma.  Thanks to a wonderful oncology and dermatology team I feel confident that I am on a long road of health and happiness.

During my most recent visit to the dermatologist she complimented me on how pale I was, especially for a woman who was in the midst of a month long vacation at a lake cottage.  I contribute my enviable ghost-like appearance to incorporation of many of the products I write about here.

I am always on the outlook for new gear and while vacationing I stumbled upon an awesome vintage yet trendy bathing suit designer.  She creates long-sleeved one-piece suits using a combination of multiple fabrics and patterns and finds a way to make a rash guard swimsuit look appealing.  I was immediately excited and ordered mine.  Unfortunately while wearing it my chest was burned.  How did I know you might ask? Well the chest pattern of the bathing suit had a sweat-heart neckline and after my day at the beach, so did I.

I emailed their customer service and was met with immediate support and response.  I was so impressed by the company’s attentiveness and ease of response.  They offered a full refund including shipping and sent a detailed explanation of why I happened to get a burn.    They also promised to keep in touch and let me know when all of the products they use have a UPF rating of 50+.  And believe me, when I know, I will let all of you know!!!

I am a mother of two and survivor of a very scary malignant melanoma diagnosis. I was diagnosed in my early thirties. Since that day, I have been working to change my lifestyle and incorporate sun blocking effective products into my daily life to create a new reality of living in the sun... my "sunality." I want to pass along this information to others who are facing the same lifestyle changes and challenges. You can still live a normal life and protect yourself from the deadly effects of the sun.
